Lydd’s McAMS Yamaha racer Bradley Ray recovers from race one crash to score podium double in British Superbikes Championship at Cadwell Park

Lydd’s Bradley Ray put a race-one crash behind him to score two podium spots in the latest round of the British Superbikes Championship at Cadwell Park.

On form from Saturday’s free practice sessions, the McAMS Yamaha rider clocked 1min25.361sec in Superpole to secure pole position for the opening race of the weekend. However he fell victim to Park Corner on lap five - tumbling into the grass in an early end to his 18-lap effort. The race was won by Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha’s Rory Skinner.

Ray bounced back with second place in Bank Holiday Monday’s sprint race. Starting from pole again, he held firm in third throughout the first five laps before Skinner slipped off, promoting the 29-year-old into second.

Now behind Honda’s Ryan Vickers and challenging for the lead, Ray threatened overtakes across the final two laps but had to be content with runners-up spot - the team’s 15th podium finish of 2026.

There was more of the same in the third and final race. Starting from pole for the third time, Ray held second through the opening lap before slipping to fourth. A determined response followed with a standout overtake into Mansfield to restore his place within the leading three.

A lap-four crash for Skinner then promoted Ray back into second, but once again Vickers proved too hard to pass.

The results kept Ray third in the championship standings, 32 points behind Hager PBM’s Scott Redding in second. Ducati’s Kyle Ryde has 392 points at the top of the leaderboard with three Showdown rounds to come, starting at Assen on September 18-20.

“It’s been a good weekend for us overall,” said Ray.

“It was a shame to crash out on Sunday as we had the pace to fight for the win. In [Monday’s] races I feel like I had a better result in me than second. We showed really strong pace, but Ryan defended well and I couldn’t find a way past.

“I tried to keep the pressure on throughout the race, but it wasn’t meant to be. To walk away from the weekend with two podiums feels good. I’m happy for the team, and happy with the pace we had.”
